  165.           The statusline is the 3D box directly below the menu. It has two 
  166.           purposes: 
  167.  
  168.           1. 
  169.  
  170.           Displaying the number of selected files, dirs and their bytesize, and 
  171.           displaying the total number of files and dirs in the directory and 
  172.           their total filesize. The format is like this: 
  173.  
  174.           # of selected dirs / total # of dirs  # of selected files / total # 
  175.           of files  selected bytes / total bytes 
  176.

  179.           Displaying information that need no confirmation, like "Operation 
  180.           complete!".

  189.                               - Display disk label of the current drive

  191.                               - Display free diskspace on the current drive.

  193.                               - Show which directory window is selected. The
  194.                                box above the selected window is colored dark pink.

  196.           Switching between directory windows: 
  197.  
  198.           This can be acomplished in several ways. The easiest way is by 
  199.           clicking the right mouse button in the window you want selected. This 
  200.           also causes free diskspace and disklabel to be updated for this 
  201.           window. 
  202.  
  203.           Another way is to use the left mouse button. This does NOT cause free 
  204.           diskspace or disklabel to be updated. 
  205.  
  206.           Note:  The previous method causes the file beneath the pointer to be 
  207.           selected. 
  208.  
  209.           A third way is to use the keyboard. Both TAB and SPACE switches to 
  210.           the other dirwindow. 
  211.  
  212.           Displaying the availible drives list: 
  213.  
  214.           By pressing both mouse button 1 and 2 simultaneously (chord) the 
  215.           active dirwindow will display a list of all drives availible. 
  216.           Choosing a drive from this list causes the root directory of that 
  217.           drive to be loaded in the same dirwindow (replacing the drive list).

  220. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.4. Directory windows ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  221.  
  222.           Directory windows: 
  223.  
  224.           The directory (dir from now on) windows are two listboxes (my own, 
  225.           not the system's) containing files in the current dirs (you have two 
  226.           current dirs. A source and a target.). The selected dir automatically 
  227.           becomes the source and the other the target. Multiple files can be 
  228.           selected in the dir windows by either clicking on the files one by 
  229.           one, by draging the mouse up/down while holding mouse button #1 down 
  230.           or by pressing the ALL button or NONE button. 
  231.  
  232.           Left mouse button double clicking: 
  233.  
  234.           The dir windows support double clicking. DirMaster will take an 
  235.           action when any of the following are double clicked: 
  236.  
  237.                               - Directories. Double clicking on one will cause DirMaster to enter
  238.                                it and display it (replacing the current dir) in the dir window.
  239.                                This includes the parent directory (..) if it is enabled in the
  240.                                dirwindows configuration.
  241.  
  242.                               - Files with the extension EXE or COM. DirMaster will try to figure
  243.                                out wheather it is a DOS, Windows, OS/2 textmode or PM program. You can
  244.                                then specify cmd line parameters in execute dialog that pops up.
  245.  
  246.                               - Files with the extention CMD. DirMaster will load the default cmdline
  247.                                interpreter (CMD.EXE, 4os2.exe or whatever) and run the batch file.
  248.  
  249.                               - Files with the extention BAT or BTM. The DOS cmdline interpreter
  250.                                will be loaded and the batch file run.
  251.  
  252.                               - Files with extensions configured in the User button configuration.
  253.                                The corresponding user function will be executed.
  254.  
  255.           Right mouse button double clicking: 
  256.  
  257.           Double clicking with the right mouse button in a dir window does a 
  258.           "parent" in that directory. This is equal to pressing the Parent 
  259.           button or doubleclicking on the parent directory (".."). 
  260.  
  261.           Locating files quickly: 
  262.  
  263.           To find a specific filename in the dirwindow, just type the character 
  264.           corresponding to the first character in the filename and DirMaster 
  265.           will scroll the dirwindow to the first file it located. If no file 
  266.           starting with that character, Dirmaster will increase the character 
  267.           by one until it finds a match. 
  268.  
  269.           Note:  This functions may not always work correctly in other sorting 
  270.           modes than ascending/filename.

  273. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.5. Directory path boxes ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  275.           Directory path boxes: 
  276.  
  277.           Path boxes (se picture below) are situated below the two dir windows. 
  278.           Their functions are to contain the path for the drive window above 
  279.           it. The boxes are automatically updated whenever a new directory is 
  280.           loaded. 
  281.  
  282.           The path boxes can also be used to change directories. Just click 
  283.           inside it, enter the desired directory (including drive) and press 
  284.           enter. If you made a mistake in the directory name DirMaster will let 
  285.           you know by writing <No directory loaded> in the label box above the 
  286.           dir window. The directory path you had typed will still be in the 
  287.           path box so you won't have to type it all over again.

  290. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6.6. Arrow buttons ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  292.           Arrow buttons: 
  293.  
  294.           These three buttons does the following: 
  295.  
  296.           The < button reads the directory contained in the right dirwindow 
  297.           into the left dirwindow. The directory in the right window remains 
  298.           the same. 
  299.  
  300.           The > button does the opposite of the < button. It reads the 
  301.           directory contained in the left dirwindow into the right window. 
  302.  
  303.           These two buttons can be useful if for instance you wish to copy a 
  304.           file in the current directory into a sub dir in the current 
  305.           directory. To do that you would just have to "copy" the dir with one 
  306.           of the two buttons mentioned above, then enter the sub dir and the 
  307.           file is ready to be copied. 
  308.  
  309.           The <> swaps the two directories in the dirwindows. The left dir is 
  310.           moved to the right dirwindow and the right dir is moved to the left 
  311.           dirwindow. This has no practical use unless you prefer to have the 
  312.           target dir in, say, the right dirwindow.

  317.           The button panel is the 28 buttons at the bottom of the DirMaster 
  318.           window. They are divided into two types of buttons:

  326.           Drive buttons: 
  327.  
  328.           The four drive buttons are posisioned to the right on the button 
  329.           panel. Their function is to allow the user to quickly change between 
  330.           12 (Yes, twelve) dirs and/or drives configured in Configure - Drive 
  331.           Buttons. 
  332.  
  333.           These buttons appear like normal buttons, but are in fact not quite 
  334.           normal. Remember I said 12 and not 4 dirs and/or drives. This means 
  335.           there are 12 buttons too, but only 4 of them are visible at one time 
  336.           (Not quite room for 12 buttons, eh?). So, for those of you who know 
  337.           your math. 4 * 3 = 12. There are therefor 3 pages of buttons. 
  338.           Switching between these pages is easy. Press the right mouse button 
  339.           on any of the four drive buttons and the next page is shown. Pressing 
  340.           right mouse button on the last of the three pages takes you back to 
  341.           page one.

  348.           The function buttons consists of two types of buttons. Internal 
  349.           functions are those supplied by DirMaster (Copy, Move, Rename etc.) 
  350.           and user functions specified and configured by the user in the User 
  351.           configuration.

  353.           Just like the Drive buttons, these buttons behave a little different 
  354.           from ordinary buttons. They can each contain two functions. Double 
  355.           click here to get explanation. This gives you a total of 48 function 
  356.           buttons at you disposal.

  1329.           -First of all, registering removes the irritating "beg" dialog that 
  1330.           pops up when you start DirMaster.

  1332.           -DirMaster will no longer display "Unregistered" in the title bar. 
  1333.           Instead an 'r' will be appended to the version number indicating it 
  1334.           is a registered version. 
  1335.  
  1336.           -The about dialog will display your name as well as your serial 
  1337.           number.

  1339.           -It doesn't cost much! Only $20 (140NOK). No hidden costs such as 
  1340.           postage or anything. Just hand me the money and a registration key 
  1341.           will be mailed to you by either email (Fido, SBC or any of the 
  1342.           mentioned BBSs in How to contact the author part of the 
  1343.           documentation) or snailmail.

  1345.           -The author has put down ALOT of work on DirMaster. The author has 
  1346.           used much of his sparetime (I still attend school) programming. He 
  1347.           deserves SOMETHING, doesn't he?

  1349.           -The more people who register, the more encouraged I will be to 
  1350.           continue improving and developing DirMaster.

  1352.           -DirMaster can not be considered "crippleware" in ANY ways, since all 
  1353.           the functions are availible for you to evaluate. Even though I have 
  1354.           don this, it doesn't mean that I am giving away DirMaster for free. 
  1355.           If very few of the people using DirMaster registers it, then I may be 
  1356.           foreced to add more beg dialogs, delays and other cruel things. I 
  1357.           don't want to do that, and I don't think you, as a user, would like 
  1358.           that much either. I suppose that speaks for itself..
